Q'Burns Abstract Message ja Oded Peled Helsingissä, 404 -klubilla Memphis Erottajassa Lauantaina 7. Elokuuta 22-04.

Tällä viikolla Moskovan legedaarisen Propaganda cafe'n kautta Helsinkiin saapuu Michael Donaldson, joka tunnetaan paremmin Astralwerks akronyymillään Q'Burns Abstract Message. Tuottaja-dj:nä omista omituisista ja harvinaisista hittiremikseistään yleisön tietoisuuteen noussut Michael soittaa "musiikkia kuunneltavaksi ja tanssittavaksi". Nämä kaikenlaiset musiikkityylit ovat edustettuina jo julkaistuilla albumeilla Invisible Airline ja Feng Shui.

Levy-yhtiöistä Q'Burnsia edustavat mm. Daft Punkin ja Dimitri from Parisin julkaisija Astralwerks, sekä jenkkiläinen Eighth Dimension, jolta löytyy remiksejä a la King Britt, Hakan Lidbo, Funky Transport ja Neon Heights. Parinkymmenen muille tuotettujen remiksien joukko edustaa laaja-alaista artistikaartia mm. Robbie Hardkiss Classicilla, Weekend Players, PC Synergy ja harvinaisempi Britney Spears meets Basic Channel mix.

Q-Burns Abstract Message, the DJ who plays "music for drinking and dancing, in that order". To us it sounds like twisted funky house with the 

occasional Clash record thrown in for kicks." Among Donaldson's major 
influences are such non-house acts as My Bloody Valentine, 70's Krautrock, 
Marvin Gaye, The Minutemen, 50's doo-wop soul, The Beach Boys' "Pet
Sounds" and Public Enemy.

Yet, Donaldson still sees himself as a producer rather than a DJ or "recording artist." His skills in this area have already made him a highly sought-after remixer, having produced remixes for artists as diverse as The Supreme Beings Of Leisure, Faith No More, Rabbit In The Moon and even Britney Spears. More recently, Q-Burns Abstract Message was chosen among a short list of top producers, which included Sade collaborator Andrew Hale, Morcheeba, and Yellow Magic Orchestra member Sohichiro Suzuki to produce several tracks for the new Jim White album, No Such Place (Luaka Bop). Even David Byrne has stated that he believes the Q-Burns Abstract Message produced tracks are among the best on the album. Jim White also complimented Donaldson's production work in Billboard: "He's real smart and knows what he wants to do and how to do it."
